Galecto (搜索) Inc. has completed its acquisition of Damora Therapeutics (搜索), a privately held biotechnology company developing targeted therapies for mutant calreticulin (搜索)-driven Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (搜索) (MPNs), alongside a concurrent $284.9 million private placement that positions the combined company to advance a potentially transformative blood cancer pipeline through 2029.
The oversubscribed Series C financing was led by Fairmount (搜索) with participation from major institutional investors including Viking Global Investors, Venrock Healthcare Capital Partners, Wellington Management, RA Capital Management, and Andreessen Horowitz. Galecto (搜索)'s stock price surged 360% following the announcement, reflecting investor confidence in the strategic combination.
Targeting Unmet Need in Rare Blood Cancers
MPNs represent a group of rare, chronic blood cancers characterized by abnormal blood cell production in the bone marrow. Mutant calreticulin (搜索) (mutCALR) drives uncontrolled proliferation and disease progression in 25% of Essential Thrombocythemia (搜索) (ET) cases and 35% of Myelofibrosis (搜索) (MF) cases, affecting approximately 42,000 patients in the United States.
Damora's lead asset, DMR-001 (搜索), is a potentially best-in-class anti-mutCALR monoclonal antibody that has demonstrated enhanced activity in Type 1 and Type 2 mutCALR-driven preclinical models. The therapy shows approximately 10-fold greater potency against Type 2 mutCALR-driven cell proliferation compared to internal data generated using a reference molecule in clinical development, supporting its potential to address the full spectrum of mutCALR mutations in both ET and MF.
Engineered for Patient Convenience
DMR-001 (搜索) is engineered with validated half-life extension technology to enable infrequent, low-volume subcutaneous dosing, potentially offering patients a more convenient treatment option compared to intravenous alternatives. The company plans to submit an Investigational New Drug (IND) application in mid-2026, with first-in-human administration anticipated via subcutaneous administration.

Complementary Pipeline Assets
The acquisition combines Damora's mutCALR-targeted portfolio with Galecto (搜索)'s existing investigational candidate GB3226 (搜索), a dual ENL-YEATS (搜索) and FLT3 (搜索) inhibitor for multiple genetic subsets of acute myeloid leukemia (搜索) (AML). Galecto received constructive feedback from the FDA regarding its pre-IND submission for GB3226 and plans to submit an IND application in the first quarter of 2026.
GB3226 (搜索) will be featured in two poster presentations at the 67th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting and Exposition in December 2025, providing additional visibility for the combined company's hematology-oncology portfolio.
Proven Development Platform
Damora represents the sixth company launched based on assets developed by Paragon Therapeutics (搜索), demonstrating a track record of successful biotechnology company creation. The acquisition provides immediate access to public capital markets and strengthened financial positioning to accelerate development of the specialized portfolio.

Clinical Timeline and Financial Runway
The substantial funding provides the combined company with financial resources extending into 2029, enabling advancement of DMR-001 (搜索) through key Phase 1 proof-of-concept data expected in 2027, as well as pipeline programs DMR-002 (搜索) and DMR-003 (搜索) into Phase 1 studies. This extended runway allows for multiple data milestones without immediate funding pressures.
The acquisition was approved by the boards of directors of both companies and Damora's stockholders, with closings not subject to Galecto (搜索) stockholder approval. On an as-converted basis, the total number of Galecto common stock shares will be 61,998,882 following the transactions.
