GrayMatters Health Taps Former Cigna Behavioral Health Executive to Scale Payor Coverage for FDA-Cleared Prism PTSD Therapy

GrayMatters Health (搜索) announced on Aug. 4, 2026, that it has added Douglas Nemecek, a board-certified psychiatrist and physician executive, as an advisor to help shape and support its current and future payor strategy as expansion of its Prism (搜索) platform continues. Nemecek brings more than 20 years leading behavioral health strategy, quality and innovation for The Cigna Group (搜索).

The appointment reflects a push to broaden reimbursement and patient access as the company's FDA-cleared PTSD treatment moves into more clinics. A Biomarker-Driven Interventional Psychiatry Platform
Prism (搜索) is FDA-cleared as an adjunct treatment for PTSD. It uses a computer simulation together with a proprietary digital biomarker reflecting amygdala (搜索) activity. Through training sessions in the clinic, patients learn to regulate brain activity associated with PTSD using a personal mental strategy. A separate tool, Prism Imagine (搜索), is a generative AI-powered visualization tool that allows patients to generate a visual representation of their mental strategy to refer to between sessions or after completing treatment.
The platform also includes a Depression (搜索) protocol and Prism (搜索) Insights, which monitors patient progress. According to the company, its proprietary digital biomarkers were developed by applying machine learning models to register fMRI data from deep in the brain to EEG. The amygdala (搜索)-based and reward system biomarkers, for PTSD and depression respectively, work together with an interactive simulation to help patients learn to regulate brain activity associated with their condition.
The Case for Objective Biomarkers in Psychiatry
In a separate announcement on Sept. 14, 2026, GrayMatters Health (搜索) highlighted the growing role of biomarkers in expanding treatment strategies for patients with complex mental health conditions, including PTSD and depression (搜索). The company noted that while mental health is the largest disease burden in medicine, it is the only field where biomarkers are not used on a regular basis for patient diagnosis, treatment and management; traditional psychiatric care relies primarily on symptom reporting and clinical observation.

Kraft framed the technology as complementary to existing and emerging modalities. The company pointed to recent acknowledgment of the need to move beyond traditional diagnoses and reliance on behavioral symptoms by the American Psychiatric Association, which it said is building a long-term strategic plan to integrate biomarkers into the Diagnostic & Statistical Scientific Manual (DSM).
