ObvioHealth (搜索), a global digital clinical trials company, announced on July 25, 2024, that it has secured a strategic investment from Guardant Health, Inc., a leading precision oncology company specializing in liquid and tissue biopsy tests. This investment completes ObvioHealth's Series B extension, bringing the total funding round to $18.4 million.
The partnership comes at a critical time for oncology research, as this therapeutic area represents more than 40 percent of all global clinical trials. The alliance is designed to strengthen ObvioHealth (搜索)'s domain expertise in oncology while enabling more streamlined deployment of cancer clinical trials worldwide.
Digital Platform Integration
The collaboration centers around ObvioHealth (搜索)'s recently launched ObvioGo 2.0, a second-generation digital clinical trial platform designed to streamline and automate clinical workflows for trial sites. The platform was released just months before this strategic partnership announcement.
ObvioGo's validated environment provides comprehensive functionality including automated study design and configuration, recruitment performance dashboards, and a full suite of site and patient-facing tools. These tools facilitate electronic consent (eConsent), electronic clinical outcomes assessments (eCOA), electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO), and electronic medical record (EMR) data integration.
The platform maintains seamless integration with Oracle (搜索)'s electronic data capture (EDC) and clinical trial management system (CTMS) software, providing automated data management, formatting, and data reporting capabilities.
Strategic Network Expansion
The partnership provides ObvioHealth (搜索) with access to Guardant Health's extensive network of hospitals and research centers. In return, Guardant Health will benefit from the deployment of ObvioGo to better enable clinical trials for patients at all stages of cancer while minimizing disruption in the sites' workflow.
"ObvioHealth (搜索) sees tremendous opportunity in this partnership," said Ivan Jarry, Chief Executive Officer at ObvioHealth. The collaboration is expected to help the company further penetrate the oncology therapeutic area.
Anand Tharmaratnam, Board Observer at ObvioHealth (搜索), emphasized the global expansion potential: "Guardant's network of researchers enables us to further penetrate the oncology therapeutic area and helps us to expand this important research beyond the 35 countries where we are already conducting trials."
Growing Partnership Portfolio
Guardant Health joins ObvioHealth (搜索)'s expanding list of strategic partners, which includes Dedalus (搜索), Novotech (搜索), and Oracle (搜索). This growing network of partnerships positions ObvioHealth to deliver enhanced digital clinical trial solutions across multiple therapeutic areas and geographic regions.
The investment and partnership reflect the increasing importance of digital solutions in clinical trial management, particularly in oncology where patient engagement and data collection efficiency are critical for successful trial outcomes.
