The IMA Group (搜索) announced completion of its acquisition of Clinical Trials of America (搜索) (CTA), a multi-therapeutic clinical trials company that adds four independent and six embedded site locations in Louisiana and North Carolina to IMA's expanding clinical research network. The transaction, with undisclosed financial terms, represents the seventh acquisition for IMA's Clinical Research division since 2018.
CTA, based in Monroe, Louisiana, will continue operating with its existing leadership structure intact, including former CEO and President Jeb Andrews, Ph.D., who will transition to serve as Senior Regional Director of Operations for IMA Clinical Research (搜索) while continuing to lead the CTA sites as a sub-investigator.
Therapeutic Capabilities and Research Focus
The acquisition brings significant therapeutic expertise across multiple specialty areas including cardiology, gastroenterology, dermatology, vaccines, family medicine and psychiatry. CTA's research capabilities extend to additional disease states including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (搜索) (NASH), hypertension (搜索), atrial fibrillation (搜索), asthma (搜索) and smoking cessation trials.
"With CTA's deep therapeutic expertise in cardiology, gastroenterology, dermatology, vaccines, family medicine and psychiatry, the transaction adds scale, enhances diversity and further extends the reach of IMA Clinical Research (搜索) in the Southeast," the company stated.
Strategic Growth and Network Expansion
The deal supports IMA's substantial expansion trajectory in clinical research services. According to Dr. Mark Weinberger, President and CEO of The IMA Group (搜索), "Our clinical research division has grown more than 300 percent during the past three years."
The acquisition aligns with IMA's strategy to differentiate itself to sponsors and contract research organizations through fast startup capabilities, quick enrollment processes and high-quality outcomes. CTA's integrated physician practice research model and focus on recruiting diverse patient populations fits with IMA Clinical Research (搜索)'s vision and growth strategy.
Patient Recruitment and Trial Execution
Both companies emphasized the critical importance of efficient patient identification and trial completion. "The ability to quickly find the right patients for clinical trial participation, and see those trials through to completion, is critical for researchers today," said Dr. Andrews, highlighting the combined organizations' track record and experience.
The integration will deliver IMA's tech-enabled productivity platforms and central services model to additional physicians' offices, potentially accelerating startup timelines and patient recruitment while offering broader trial opportunities across more disease states.
Acquisition History and Market Position
This transaction represents the 15th total acquisition within The IMA Group (搜索) since 2018, with seven specifically focused on clinical research expansion. Previous clinical research acquisitions included Amici Clinical Research (搜索) in March of the previous year, which added two New Jersey sites in Raritan and Hoboken.
