Immunic Highlights IMU-856 Discovery at EFMC-ACSMEDI Symposium as Oral MS Therapy Nears Phase 3 Readout
核心洞察
Immunic will present the discovery of IMU-856, a selective Sirtuin 6 (搜索) modulator with novel binding characteristics for gastrointestinal disease, at the EFMC-ACSMEDI Medicinal Chemistry Frontiers 2026 Symposium in Dublin.
The company's lead candidate vidofludimus calcium (IMU-838) is in phase 3 trials for relapsing multiple sclerosis (搜索), with top-line data expected by the end of 2026.
Vidofludimus calcium is a first-in-class Nurr1 (搜索) activator with neuroprotective effects and additional anti-inflammatory and antiviral activity through selective DHODH (搜索) inhibition.
Immunic, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMUX), a late-stage biotechnology company focused on novel oral therapies for neurologic diseases, has announced a series of June conference appearances, headlined by a scientific presentation detailing the discovery of IMU-856 at the EFMC-ACSMEDI Medicinal Chemistry Frontiers 2026 Symposium in Dublin.
Christian Gege, Ph.D., Global Head of Intellectual Property at Immunic, will deliver both an oral and a poster presentation titled "Discovery of IMU-856, a Selective Sirtuin 6 (搜索) Modulator with Novel Binding Characteristics for Gastrointestinal Disease Treatment." The oral presentation, designated OC14, is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 12:15 pm GMT (7:15 am ET) as part of Session 8 – New Frontiers in Neuroscience and Immunology.
IMU-856 represents one of Immunic's earlier-stage pipeline programs, which together with IMU-381, aims to build a broader therapeutics platform addressing neurodegenerative, chronic inflammatory, and autoimmune-related diseases.
The company's lead development program, vidofludimus calcium (IMU-838), is currently in phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis (搜索). Top-line data from these pivotal studies is expected by the end of 2026. Vidofludimus calcium has already demonstrated therapeutic activity in phase 2 clinical trials across relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, progressive multiple sclerosis, and other diseases.
The drug candidate features a dual mechanism of action: neuroprotective effects through its activity as a first-in-class nuclear receptor-related 1 (Nurr1 (搜索)) activator, combined with additional anti-inflammatory and antiviral effects achieved by selectively inhibiting the enzyme dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH (搜索)).
Beyond the Dublin symposium, Immunic's leadership will maintain a robust presence across multiple venues in June. Erik Lundgren, Chief Executive Officer, and Jason Tardio, President and Chief Operating Officer, will participate in a fireside chat at the H.C. Wainwright 7th Annual Neuro Perspectives Expert Summit taking place June 15-16 in New York and virtually. The pre-recorded presentation will be available to registered attendees starting Monday, June 15, 2026, at 7:00 am ET.
Members of Immunic's management team will also engage in partnering activities at the BIO International Convention 2026 in San Diego from June 22-25. Additionally, the company's medical team will attend the 12th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 27-30, where they will be available at booth #E42.
