Indivumed Partners with University of Rochester to Accelerate Precision Cancer Therapeutic Discovery
核心洞察
Indivumed (搜索) has expanded its collaboration with the University of Rochester Medical Center's Wilmot Cancer Institute (搜索) to accelerate development of novel cancer therapeutics using patient-centric research approaches.
The partnership will focus on creating patient-derived tumor models from high-quality tissue samples with minimized ischemia time under ten minutes to ensure sample integrity.
Initial research targets advanced stages of solid cancers including colorectal, pancreatic, lung, and breast cancer (搜索), with potential expansion to other cancer types.
Precision oncology company Indivumed (搜索) has announced an expanded collaboration with the University of Rochester Medical Center's Wilmot Cancer Institute (搜索) to accelerate the discovery of novel cancer therapeutics through patient-centric research approaches. The partnership, announced December 10, 2025, aims to leverage Indivumed's standardized tissue and clinical data collection platform to advance therapeutic development for patients with high medical need.
Advanced Tissue Collection and Model Development
The collaboration centers on URMC's role in collecting and processing high-quality biosamples and clinical patient data according to Indivumed (搜索)'s rigorous standard operating procedures. A critical component of the partnership involves minimizing ischemia time to under ten minutes, ensuring optimal sample integrity and quality for downstream research applications.
The joint research efforts prioritize creating well-characterized, patient-derived tumor models (PDTMs) from collected samples. These cellular models encompass classical cell cultures, spheroids, and organoids, which will be combined with comprehensive data insights to advance the identification, validation, ligand screening, and development of pharmaceutical molecular cancer targets.
"We have worked with Indivumed (搜索) successfully in the past and our familiarity with their tissue and multi-omics data approach will provide an excellent foundation," said Hartmut "Hucky" Land, PhD, Deputy Director of the Wilmot Cancer Institute (搜索). "The new project will create greater opportunities to identify new therapeutics and biomarkers, uncover insights on the right target-patient match for clinical decision-making, and thus help advance cancer care."
Focus on High-Need Cancer Types
The collaboration initially targets advanced stages of solid cancers with significant medical need, including colorectal cancer (搜索) (CRC), pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (搜索) (PDAC), lung cancer (搜索), and breast cancer (搜索). The partnership maintains potential for expansion to additional cancer types as research progresses.
Hartmut Juhl, CEO and founder of Indivumed (搜索), emphasized the patient-centered approach: "We are thrilled to deepen our collaboration with URMC, significantly enhancing our ability to identify novel cancer therapeutics in a truly patient-centered approach. We will develop primary tumor models for the testing of novel compounds against targets which have been identified by our unique AI-powered data analytical capabilities to bring novel therapeutics to patients as fast and precisely as possible."
Expanding Global Research Network
With this agreement, the University of Rochester Medical Center joins Indivumed (搜索)'s Global Clinical Network, which includes renowned hospitals and leading oncology institutes across North America, Europe, and Asia. The collaboration builds upon previous successful joint research efforts between the two institutions, including a recent publication describing an alternative classification system for distinct types of colon cancer.
The partnership will advance Indivumed (搜索)'s ongoing research initiatives and asset development while providing participating clinicians with valuable guidance to inform therapeutic decision-making. The Wilmot Cancer Institute (搜索) serves more than three million people across 27 counties in Western and Central New York, operating as an NCI-Designated Cancer Center with a team of more than 190 oncology physicians, 500-plus oncology nurses, and approximately 115 scientists.
Indivumed (搜索) brings more than twenty years of experience in precision oncology research, focusing on the identification, validation, and preclinical development of first-in-class therapeutics. The company's platform utilizes a standardized collection process that maintains cold ischemia time under 10 minutes, supporting its mission to develop precise therapeutic treatments for cancer patients.
