The approval comes as the company's lead therapeutic candidate advances into Phase 3 clinical development, positioning Ingenia at a critical juncture in its development trajectory.
Revolutionary TIE2 Activation Technology
Ingenia's proprietary platforms, TIE-body and LCIDEC (Ligand Capture & Internalization into Endothelial Cells), are built upon what the company describes as a fundamental breakthrough in vascular biology: the unique, direct activation of the TIE2 (搜索) pathway. Unlike traditional approaches that rely on balancing ligands (Ang1/Ang2), Ingenia's technology directly binds and activates the TIE2 receptor independent of the ligands.
This mechanism effectively "seals" endothelial cells in the vasculature and restores the vascular barrier for conditions characterized by chronic vascular inflammation and microvascular damage. The approach represents a departure from conventional vascular therapies and offers potential applications across multiple disease areas.
Phase 3 Advancement in Ophthalmology
The company's most advanced asset, MK-8748 (Tiespectus), is an investigational bispecific antibody (Anti-VEGF (搜索)/TIE2 (搜索)) that is advancing into Phase 3 clinical development across both wet age-related macular degeneration (搜索) (wAMD) and diabetic macular edema (搜索) (DME) this year. By directly activating TIE2 to stabilize retinal vasculature, MK-8748 aims to improve outcomes over existing standard of care.
The asset is being developed through a strategic partnership with Merck (搜索) (known as MSD outside of the US and Canada). In 2022, Ingenia entered into a research collaboration and licensing agreement with EyeBio (搜索), which became a wholly owned subsidiary of Merck following its acquisition in 2024.

Expanding Pipeline in Chronic Kidney Disease
Leveraging the same vascular-stabilizing principle, Ingenia's second clinical asset, IGT-303 (搜索), is progressing through Phase 1/2a trials for chronic kidney disease (搜索) (CKD) and diabetic kidney disease (搜索) (DKD). The therapy addresses what the company identifies as a critical unmet need by recovering glomerular and tubular endothelial layers and slowing disease progression.
Beyond these clinical programs, Ingenia is expanding its proprietary pipeline into additional high-value therapeutic areas, including oncology (normalizing tumor vasculature to enhance immunotherapy), CNS (restoring the blood-brain barrier), and cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
Strategic IPO Positioning

Han emphasized that the IPO will provide the capital necessary to scale the company's platform and accelerate the delivery of these therapies to patients. The company is headquartered in Watertown, Massachusetts, with operations in South Korea and Australia, positioning it strategically for both Korean market access and global development.
