In a significant move to bolster India's medical device safety infrastructure, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (搜索) (IPC), through the Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI), will lead a National Sensitization and Capacity Building Programme on Materiovigilance System in India on July 10, 2026, at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru.
The capacity-building initiative seeks to enhance awareness and strengthen competencies in medical device vigilance through expert-led deliberations on recent developments in the MvPI, adverse event reporting systems, regulatory perspectives, digital reporting platforms, and emerging technologies shaping the future of device safety monitoring.

The programme is being organized by NIMHANS, Bengaluru, and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute (搜索), Bengaluru, in collaboration with IPC, the National Coordination Centre for the MvPI under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India.

Held under the theme, "Safeguarding Patients through Robust Medical Device Safety and Vigilance Systems," the programme will bring together healthcare professionals, biomedical engineers, pharmacovigilance and materiovigilance experts, researchers, academicians, industry stakeholders, Medical Device Monitoring Centre (MDMC) coordinators, and students from medical, pharmacy, nursing, and biomedical engineering disciplines.
Participants will gain updated insights into the functioning and expansion of MvPI, understand mechanisms for reporting medical device-related adverse events, and learn from real-world safety case studies and regulatory experiences. Demonstrations of the Adverse Drug Reactions Monitoring System (ADRMS) portal and other digital reporting tools will provide practical exposure to contemporary reporting modalities.
