Jazz Pharmaceuticals Presents New Epidiolex Behavioral Data at AAN 2026, Demonstrating Impact Beyond Seizure Control

Jazz Pharmaceuticals plc announced the presentation of six research abstracts at the 2026 American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting, held April 18-22 in Chicago, showcasing new clinical evidence for its neuroscience portfolio spanning epilepsy (搜索) and sleep disorders.
The most significant presentation featured results from the prespecified 6-month intermediate analysis of the ongoing EpiCom Phase 3b/4 study, which demonstrated reductions in the severity of caregiver- and clinician-reported behavioral problems at 26 weeks after Epidiolex treatment initiation in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (搜索) (TSC)-associated seizures (搜索).
Behavioral Improvements in TSC Patients
The EpiCom study results showed improvements across multiple validated assessment scales, including the TSC-Associated Neuropsychiatric Disorders Self-Report Quantified Checklist (TAND-SQ), Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC) subscale scores, and Caregiver- and Clinician-Global Impression of Severity (CGI-S) scales. These findings suggest Epidiolex's therapeutic impact extends beyond seizure control to address behavioral complications commonly associated with TSC.

Treatment Persistence Analysis
A separate poster presentation detailed sociodemographic and clinical factors associated with persistence on Epidiolex among patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (搜索) (LGS), Dravet syndrome (搜索) (DS), TSC, or other refractory epilepsies, based on claims analysis of over 7,800 patients. This analysis examined how care variability in the fragmented epilepsy (搜索) care environment influences treatment continuity and may help clinicians support patient adherence.
Xywav Dosage Optimization Research
The meeting also featured analysis from the open-label, single-arm DUET (Develop hypersomnia Understanding by Evaluating low-sodium oxybate Treatment) study evaluating adults with narcolepsy (搜索). The research examined changes in cognitive complaints, daily functioning, work productivity and overall disease burden in patients treated with Xywav dosages greater than 9 grams per night.
Improvements in these outcomes were observed in participants who optimized their Xywav dosage to more than 9 grams per night (up to 12 grams total) compared to a 9 gram per night dosage. The current recommended dosage of Xywav for adults with narcolepsy (搜索) is 6-9 grams per night.
Expanding Evidence Base
The research presentations underscore Jazz's commitment to generating real-world evidence addressing rare neurological disorders. Epidiolex is currently approved in the U.S. for the treatment of seizures (搜索) associated with LGS, DS, or TSC in patients one year of age and older, while Xywav is the only low-sodium oxybate approved for treating cataplexy (搜索) or excessive daytime sleepiness (搜索) in patients 7 years of age and older with narcolepsy (搜索).
The company continues to study Epidiolex in additional forms of epilepsy (搜索), including the EpiFOS exploratory study in focal-onset seizures (搜索). These ongoing research efforts aim to address significant unmet needs in rare neurological disorders where patients often have limited or no therapeutic options.
