Jubilant Pharmova Ltd (搜索) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jubilant Generics Ltd (搜索), has received a show-cause notice from the Joint Commissioner, CGST Division, Roorkee, Uttarakhand, demanding ₹105.5 crore, including a penalty over the availment of tax refund. The notice was received on August 27, 2026, at 12:35 PM IST.
The notice alleges that Jubilant Generics improperly availed of an IGST refund under Rule 96 and the benefit of the Advance Authorisation Scheme simultaneously, in violation of Rule 96(10) of the CGST Rules, 2017. The Advance Authorisation Scheme allows duty-free import of inputs for export products. The alleged violation pertains to the fiscal years 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Details of the Tax Demand
The proposed demand comprises GST (tax) of ₹52.75 crore and a penalty amounting to ₹52.75 crore, along with an unquantified amount for interest. The total quantified demand currently stands at ₹105.5 crore, excluding interest.
Company's Response
Jubilant Pharmova stated that it will contest the notice and file its reply soon. In a regulatory filing, the company said, "The show-cause notice is factually and legally incorrect, bad in law and has been issued without verifying the facts and examining the issue properly. The company has a strong case in its favour... (and) will file a detailed reply on merits before the Joint Commissioner, CGST Division, Roorkee."
The company added that it expects no financial or operational impact from the notice. The information was provided in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, and will be simultaneously posted on the company's website, www.jubilantpharmova.com.
