Grand Rapids-based BAMF Health has partnered with three major Kansas City healthcare organizations to establish one of the nation's first fully integrated theranostics platforms designed for both adult and pediatric patients. The collaboration brings together The University of Kansas Health System, University of Kansas Medical Center, and Children's Mercy (搜索) to create a comprehensive precision medicine facility in Missouri.
Precision Medicine Approach
Theranostics represents a precision medicine approach that employs the same targeting system to both locate and treat disease in the body using radiopharmaceuticals (搜索). By delivering radiation directly to diseased cells, the technology treats disease more precisely, minimizes damage to healthy tissue, and results in fewer side effects compared to conventional treatments.

Comprehensive Integrated Platform
The new facility will establish a vertically integrated theranostics approach, allowing radiopharmaceutical production, molecular imaging, radiopharmaceutical therapy, and radioligand clinical trials to occur in the same location. This integration represents a significant advancement in how theranostic treatments are delivered and researched.
Currently, The University of Kansas Cancer Center offers theranostic treatments for certain types of metastatic prostate cancer (搜索) and neuroendocrine cancer (搜索). The collaboration will significantly expand these capabilities across multiple disease areas.
Expanding Clinical Applications
The partnership aims to broaden access to cutting-edge clinical trials, therapies, and diagnostics across multiple diseases. According to Matthias Salathe, M.D., chief research officer for the University of Kansas, the number of clinical trials in radiopharmaceuticals (搜索) is growing exponentially, including applications in neurologic conditions such as Alzheimer's disease (搜索).

Children's Mercy (搜索) represents one of the first pediatric health systems to invest early in theranostics technology, addressing a significant gap in the field. While theranostics is currently used almost exclusively in adult care, this collaboration ensures children will not be left behind as the field rapidly advances.
