The research collaboration will bring together scientists from Klick Labs (搜索)' vocal biomarker practice and Mayo Clinic principal investigators across several fields, under the leadership of Vivek Kumbhari, MD, PhD. Klick Labs' involvement is led by Yan Fossat, Senior Vice President of Digital Health R&D at Klick Applied Sciences (搜索), who will serve as co-investigator on the studies.
"We believe the voice has thousands of hidden properties and insights that can flag critical health issues and help enhance patient care," said Fossat.
Building on Published Evidence
The new collaboration builds on foundational research published by Klick Labs (搜索) in Mayo Clinic Proceedings: Digital Health in 2023. That study demonstrated that scientists could use just 10 seconds of a person's voice, combined with basic health data, to determine whether an individual had Type 2 diabetes (搜索). The approach achieved 89 percent accuracy for women and 86 percent accuracy for men.
Beyond diabetes, Klick Labs (搜索) has conducted vocal biomarker studies in other clinical areas, including hypertension (搜索) and ovulation, as well as research examining the relationship between voice and blood glucose levels.
Expanding the Scope
The newly announced studies aim to extend vocal biomarker research across multiple departments and study areas at Mayo Clinic in Florida. While specific chronic diseases and health conditions to be investigated were not detailed in the announcement, the collaboration signals growing interest in voice-based digital diagnostics as a non-invasive, accessible screening tool.
