Magic Molecule (搜索), a leading hypochlorous acid skincare brand from Magic Science Corporation (搜索), announced that its bestselling Daily Skin Spray will be sold at more than 4,500 Walmart stores nationwide and on Walmart.com, bringing the brand's retail footprint to more than 16,500 locations across the country. Available in both 3.4-ounce and 8-ounce sizes, the FDA-cleared Daily Skin Spray began rolling out to Walmart's skincare department ahead of the back-to-school season.
The expansion follows 500% year-over-year retail revenue growth, driven by existing partnerships with Target, Ulta Beauty and CVS, the brand shared. The Walmart launch also follows recent national expansions into Whole Foods Market, CVS Pharmacy and Sprouts Farmers Market.
The Science Behind Hypochlorous Acid
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a molecule naturally produced by the body's white blood cells and has been used in clinical settings for decades. It has recently emerged as one of skincare's fastest-growing categories, with consumer searches increasing more than 500% year over year.
"Hypochlorous acid has historically been concentrated in medical settings, professional skincare or relatively expensive beauty products," said Justin Kerzner, co-founder and CEO of Magic Science Corporation (搜索). "Walmart allows us to bring the technology into people's everyday routines at an accessible price and on a national scale."
Magic Molecule (搜索)'s Daily Skin Spray supports the skin's natural recovery process for more than 50 common skin concerns, including breakouts, irritation, cuts, rashes and sunburn. The product is dermatologist-tested, pH-balanced, hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, free of toxins, and safe for all ages one month and up, with up to 24 months of shelf life.
A Fit for the Walmart Shopper
Kerzner emphasized that the product aligns with the everyday needs of the average Walmart consumer. "This isn't a product reserved for a complicated skincare regimen," he said. "People use it for acne-prone skin, sensitive skin, minor cuts and scrapes, post-workout skin, travel, children and a variety of everyday situations."
The brand's hero Antimicrobial Skin Spray retails at $19.99 for an 8-fluid-ounce bottle. Magic Molecule (搜索) recently celebrated producing 1,000,000 bottles of its flagship product in a single month.
"What makes it so relevant now is that consumers are moving away from harsh, complicated routines," Kerzner explained. "They're looking for products that are both gentle and genuinely effective. Hypochlorous acid can support a wide range of everyday skin needs, from breakouts and sensitive skin to cuts, burns and flareups, without requiring a different aggressive active for every problem."
The Rise of Hypochlorous Acid
Hypochlorous acid has been an emerging sub-category since June 2022, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, when Tower 28's SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray went viral. With "maskne" emerging as an unforeseeable skin condition of the time, the category gained further visibility.
Magic Molecule (搜索) will be the first hypochlorous acid skincare brand to stock Walmart's shelves. Vinima Shekhar, Walmart U.S. vice president of Beauty, said the retailer is committed to "creating an inspiring destination where customers can discover the brands they know and love most alongside the latest innovations in beauty."
The brand has seen consistent growth since receiving funding in August 2025 from private equity firm NexPhase Capital (搜索). It used the investment partially to join forces with HOCl manufacturer Simple Science (搜索) and create Magic Science Corp. Following preexisting retail partnerships with Ulta Beauty, Erewhon and Target, Magic Molecule (搜索) expanded into Sprouts, CVS and most recently Whole Foods Market, where it became the first hypochlorous acid skincare brand approved under the retailer's standards.
The Pressure to Perform
Kerzner acknowledged the high stakes of a mass-retail launch. "A Walmart launch requires much more than having a good product," he said. "We need to be able to support the scale of the partnership, maintain consistent inventory, meet Walmart's quality and regulatory standards, and make sure the product delivers real value for its customers."
He also cautioned consumers about destabilizing variations of the active molecule. "You'll see many competitors mixing hypochlorous acid with fragrances, botanicals, antioxidants or other skincare ingredients," he said, adding that Magic Molecule (搜索) is internally made and intentionally simple.
Looking ahead, Kerzner indicated that new launches could be on the horizon, but with intention. "The goal is not to launch products simply to create a larger assortment," he explained. "Each product needs to solve a real problem, have a clear reason to exist, and meet the same high standards of efficacy, safety and accessibility that we established with Skin Spray."
For Kerzner, the accessibility to Walmart's customers extends beyond price. "It's the opportunity to change how people think about skin health," he said. "We believe hypochlorous acid will ultimately become a standard part of the American medicine cabinet. Walmart is an important step toward making that happen."
