Max Reinhardt, former DePuy Synthes Spine worldwide president and Orthofix global spine president, has been appointed President, Healthcare at eXeX (搜索) to lead commercial execution of the Canopus Surgery Intelligence platform.
Canopus is deployed across multiple hospital groups in the U.S. and U.K., having supported several thousand live surgeries, with accelerated quarter-over-quarter growth reported.
eXeX (搜索) also launched Canopus Command, a portal providing hospital leadership with real-time operational visibility into every surgical case, including a novel metric called the Surgical Inquiry.
eXeX (搜索), the global Surgery Intelligence company, announced on July 21, 2026, the appointment of Max Reinhardt as President, Healthcare. Reinhardt, a seasoned MedTech executive with more than three decades of global leadership experience, will drive commercial execution for the company's Canopus platform as adoption accelerates across hospital systems in the United States, United Kingdom, and beyond.
The appointment caps a period of accelerated quarter-over-quarter growth for Canopus, which is now deployed across multiple hospital groups in the U.S. and U.K. and has supported several thousand live surgeries. The platform was proven first in complex surgical disciplines—spine and orthopedics—and is built for use across all surgical specialties.
"The operating room is the most complex workspace on Earth. It deserves intelligent infrastructure, and it deserves leaders who have lived inside it," said Robert Masson, MD, Chairman and CEO of eXeX (搜索) and a practicing neurological spine surgeon. "Max has spent three decades putting the world's most advanced surgical technology into the hands of teams on every continent. There is no better person to lead our commercial efforts at this exciting time."
A Career Built in the Operating Room
Reinhardt's career spans more than thirty years in MedTech and pharmaceuticals, including seventeen years with Johnson & Johnson. He began at J&J with DePuy Spine in the United Kingdom in 2002 and rose to Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for DePuy Synthes, where he was accountable for $5.5 billion in orthopedics revenue, covering joint reconstruction, trauma, craniomaxillofacial, spine, and sports medicine.
His president-level roles include serving as President, Global Spine at Orthofix Medical (搜索) (NASDAQ: OFIX) in 2024, where he led the company's global spine and biologics business; President of Pacira BioSciences (搜索) in 2019, overseeing all commercial and medical affairs; and Worldwide President of DePuy Synthes Spine, the spine division of Johnson & Johnson, in 2013, where he drove the business to the number-two market-share position in the global spine market. He also served as Worldwide President of Joint Reconstruction, Sports Medicine & Power Tools at DePuy Synthes. Earlier in his career, Reinhardt held senior leadership positions with Steris and Olympus in Europe.
"I have spent thirty years bringing innovation to surgeons and operating rooms globally. eXeX (搜索) is transforming one of the most complex and demanding work environments—the OR, where planning, communication, teamwork and execution are vital to a great outcome," said Reinhardt. "The best surgical teams in the world run on memory and tribal knowledge. For the first time, that experience and know-how can be captured and delivered, making every case the team's best case. This is a once-in-a-generation shift that is long overdue, and eXeX is leading it."
The Canopus Surgery Intelligence Platform
Canopus by eXeX (搜索) is described as the world's first Surgery Intelligence platform, designed to transform the operating room experience by presenting surgeon-specific, surgery-specific, and OR-specific setup and step-by-step procedure execution plans in real time. The platform utilizes touch-free technology to digitize the experience and knowledge of the most capable surgical teams.
The solution is non-clinical by design, requiring no EHR integration and excluding any patient data, which the company notes facilitates ease of adoption. Canopus aims to reduce surgeon cognitive load, facilitate effective OR teamwork, and enable improved OR productivity by optimizing preparation, orchestrating the OR in real time, and turning every case into a planned, structured, informed operation.
Canopus Command Launch
Alongside the leadership announcement, eXeX (搜索) unveiled Canopus Command, an intelligent portal that gives hospital staff and leadership a live operational view inside every surgical case. The portal captures operational data—including setup accuracy, workflow timing, supply utilization, and onboarding velocity—that previously disappeared once a case concluded.
At the heart of Canopus Command is a novel measurement: the Surgical Inquiry, defined as the discrete moment a team member pulls the exact information they need for the case in front of them. Tracked across a facility, Surgical Inquiries reveal where demand is concentrating by procedure, by team, and by moment in the workflow, enabling leadership to move resources and personnel ahead of need rather than after it.
Reinhardt joins recently appointed Chief Operating Officer John Spranger to form the leadership team driving Surgery Intelligence. Together with Dr. Masson, their mandate is to bring Canopus by eXeX (搜索) to every operating room, for every surgeon and every surgery.
eXeX (搜索) (Expanded Existence, Inc.), founded in 2022 and headquartered in Orlando, Florida, has built a patented platform that is live across hospital systems in the U.S. and U.K. and expanding worldwide.
