MUSC Health Breaks Ground on Indian Land Medical Center, Expanding Cancer and Specialty Care Across South Carolina

The event signals continued expansion of the academic health system's footprint as it responds to rapid population growth and rising demand for specialized care across the state.

A Growing Community's Needs
Indian Land is one of the fastest-growing communities in the Charlotte region, with Lancaster County's population increasing 12.7% since 2020. This growth, supported by new housing, commercial investment, and infrastructure development, has intensified demand for accessible, high-quality health care. The new facility aims to address this need by bringing a broad range of services into a single, coordinated location.
Comprehensive Services Under One Roof
Located at 9280 Charlotte Highway, the new MUSC Health (搜索) Indian Land Medical Center and MUSC Health Medical Pavilion will include a three-story, 62,000-square-foot medical office building alongside a 51-bed hospital. Together, these facilities will offer a wide range of services, including heart and vascular care, neurology, rheumatology, transplant services, urology, orthopedic and sports medicine, primary care, women's health, and advanced medical and radiation oncology through the NCI-accredited Hollings Cancer Center (搜索).
Additional services will include emergency care, imaging, laboratory services, and a retail pharmacy, supporting a seamless, coordinated care experience for patients and families.

Timeline and Broader Impact
The pavilion is expected to open in spring 2027, followed by the hospital in 2028. The project reflects MUSC Health (搜索)'s ongoing commitment to improving access, strengthening continuity of care, and supporting healthier communities across the Catawba region and beyond.
The Indian Land development follows closely on the recent opening of the MUSC Health (搜索) Bluffton Medical Pavilion, a three-story, 54,000-square-foot facility that began serving patients on June 2. That pavilion consolidated existing services in the Bluffton area while introducing new specialties, including a Hollings Cancer Center (搜索) satellite clinic with oncology and infusion services, adult and pediatric primary care, pediatric specialty care and after-hours urgent care, pulmonary and sleep lab services, and vascular care.
