Natera Reports Record Signatera Volumes in Q2 2026, Raises Guidance on MRD Market Momentum
核心洞察
Natera posted a record 34,000-unit sequential increase in Signatera (搜索) volumes in Q2 2026, driven by FDA approval halo effects and expanded commercial team productivity.
Pending MolDX coverage submissions for additional indications could add $150–$200 to the current Signatera (搜索) ASP of approximately $1,275, with benefits expected over the next 12–18 months.
The company launched SIGNAL-ER 101, the first in a portfolio of interventional studies using Signatera (搜索) to guide CDK4/6 (搜索) inhibitor use in early-stage HR+/HER2- breast cancer (搜索).
Natera, Inc. reported second quarter 2026 financial results marked by record Signatera (搜索) volume growth, driven by what CEO Steve Chapman described as a "blowout quarter" fueled by the halo effect from FDA approval, a maturing commercial team, and years of investment in medical affairs and clinical evidence. The company raised its full-year guidance amid accelerating adoption of its molecular residual disease (MRD) testing platform.
The 34,000-unit sequential increase in Signatera (搜索) volumes represented an all-time record, though management cautioned that the figure was exaggerated by weather-related suppression in the first quarter. Chapman emphasized that while future growth is expected to remain strong, the company does not anticipate repeating this record in Q3, instead pointing to more normalized growth potentially exceeding the prior record of 25,000 sequential units.
Signatera (搜索) ASP Trajectory and MolDX Catalysts
Signatera (搜索) average selling prices (ASPs) currently stand at approximately $1,275, remaining below the company's long-term target of $2,000. CFO Michael Brophy estimated that pending MolDX coverage submissions for additional indications could add roughly $150 to $200 to the ASP, with these coverages expected to roll in over the next 12 to 18 months. Brophy characterized this as a "major step-function improvement" on the path to the long-term target.
CEO Chapman noted that the rigorous MolDX process serves as a competitive moat, requiring the high-quality evidence Natera has generated. The company currently has seven MolDX submissions in flight for additional indications, which are expected to drive further adoption across tumor types.
SIGNAL-ER 101: A New Interventional Study Program
Chief Medical Officer Alexey Aleshin detailed the newly launched SIGNAL-ER 101 study, the first in a portfolio of interventional, pharma-standard studies that Natera is sponsoring independently. The study uses Signatera (搜索) to guide the use of CDK4/6 (搜索) inhibitors in early-stage HR+/HER2- breast cancer (搜索), with the potential to spare MRD-negative patients from toxic and expensive therapy.
"If positive, the study would be practice-changing," Aleshin stated. Chapman added that this represents the first of a suite of studies across major histologies designed to be guideline-enabling, marking a major strategic investment for the company.
Market Dynamics and Competitive Landscape
Chapman confirmed that Natera is gaining share in women's health, attributing the performance to recent product launches including the enhanced Panorama (搜索) test and Fetal Focus (搜索). The enhanced Panorama test resolved a historical gap of high no-call rates at low fetal fractions.
On the competitive front, Chapman acknowledged increasing competition in the MRD market but noted that major competitors have been present for years without impacting Natera's growth trajectory. He emphasized that the market remains in early stages with mid-single-digit penetration, positioning Natera to capture significant upside.
Japan Launch and International Expansion
Solomon Moshkevich, President of Clinical Diagnostics, confirmed that the Signatera (搜索) launch in Japan remains on track for year-end, pending pricing and reimbursement determination. He projected that market adoption could meet or exceed the rates seen during the initial U.S. colorectal cancer launch, citing strong existing data and supportive society guidelines in Japan. Natera is supplementing its distribution partner with a direct sales effort to accelerate awareness.
Financial Considerations
Gross margin improvement was modest sequentially, as new product launches—including Fetal Focus (搜索), LATITUDE, and Signatera (搜索) Genome—are not yet optimized for cost efficiency. Brophy noted this as a healthy development that sets up the company for returns from COGS reduction projects over the next 12 to 18 months.
SG&A expenses may exceed guidance due to noncash stock-based compensation and litigation costs, though Brophy highlighted that Natera is deploying AI across the business at a "frenetic pace," driving significant efficiencies in laboratory operations and workflows. Revenue true-ups, while declining, continue to represent a meaningful portion of revenue and add volatility to financial results.
