The Angelini Lumira Biosciences Fund (搜索) led the round, with participation from 3B Future Health Fund (搜索), UVA LVG Seed Fund (搜索), Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (搜索), VTC Innovation Fund (搜索), and Navion management.
The Charlottesville, Virginia-based company is developing therapies designed to address pathological neuronal hyperexcitability, described as a key driver of uncontrolled seizures and chronic pain. Both lead programs — in genetic epilepsy (搜索) and chronic neuropathic pain (搜索) — remain at the preclinical stage, and the seed capital is intended to generate the data necessary to advance them toward clinical development.
Targeting the Therapeutic Window Problem
Navion's central scientific premise is that existing treatments for these conditions are limited by the poor therapeutic window associated with broad sodium-channel modulation. The company said its integrated discovery approach is designed to achieve more precise modulation of disease-relevant sodium-channel activity, with the aim of dramatically improving the therapeutic window associated with traditional approaches that broadly modulate this biological target — a limitation that has historically constrained the clinical utility of the drug class in both epilepsy and pain.

NaViGATion Platform and AI-Enabled Discovery
Proceeds from the financing will support the lead programs as well as continued development of the company's NaViGATion platform, which integrates AI-enabled chemistry, structural biology, human disease biology, and deep ion-channel expertise to discover and optimize differentiated sodium-channel medicines.
Investors pointed to the combination of disease-biology insight, focused pharmacology, and computational tools as the basis for their participation. Ion-Channel Heritage and Team
Navion is led by a management and scientific team with decades of expertise in neuroscience, medicinal chemistry, ion-channel biology, and drug development. Members of the leadership team previously built Cavion (搜索), a neurology-focused ion-channel company acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals in 2019. Timothy L. Macdonald, whose affiliations span the University of Virginia and Cavion, is among the scientific contributors linked to the company's ion-channel heritage.
