Early Detection Through Advanced Imaging
The research team utilized cine Displacement Encoding with Stimulated Echoes (DENSE) MRI to measure ECC in ten boys with DMD (搜索) who showed no signs of heart fibrosis (搜索) through late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). Compared to twelve age-matched controls without DMD, the study revealed significantly reduced septal ECC values in DMD patients (-0.13 vs -0.16, P = .019), indicating decreased myocardial shortening in the septal region.
Notably, septal ECC demonstrated superior performance over traditional left ventricular ejection fraction (搜索) (LVEF) measurements in distinguishing DMD (搜索) patients from healthy controls. Future Directions and Current Limitations
