Executive Leadership and Financial Expertise
Mr. O'Byrne brings more than two decades of finance and global operations leadership across high-growth biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations. He joins Olema from Vir Biotechnology, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, leading the Finance, Investor Relations, and Information Technology functions.
Previously, Mr. O'Byrne was Chief Financial Officer of Caribou Biosciences. Across both organizations, he led a wide range of financial and capital markets initiatives, including Caribou's initial public offering. Prior to Caribou, he served as Senior Vice President of Finance at Audentes Therapeutics (搜索), where he oversaw financial due diligence and integration for its $3 billion acquisition by Astellas Pharma. Earlier in his career, Mr. O'Byrne spent over a decade at Genentech and Roche in finance leadership roles of increasing responsibility, spanning clinical development, commercial, and global operations.
Mr. O'Byrne holds an MBA in Finance, with distinction, from New York University's Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
Pipeline and Strategic Outlook

Olema Oncology is advancing a pipeline of novel therapies by leveraging its deep understanding of endocrine-driven cancers, nuclear receptors, and mechanisms of acquired resistance. Its lead product candidate, palazestrant (OP-1250), is a proprietary, orally available complete estrogen receptor (搜索) antagonist (CERAN) and a selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD), currently in two Phase 3 clinical trials. In addition, Olema is developing OP-3136, a potent lysine acetyltransferase 6 (KAT6 (搜索)) inhibitor, now in a Phase 1 clinical study.
Olema is headquartered in San Francisco and has operations in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
