Under the terms of the agreement, Otsuka will pay Harbour BioMed (搜索) a total of $47 million in upfront and near-term milestones. The collaboration includes additional contingent payments of up to $623 million upon achievement of specified development and commercial milestones, along with tiered royalties based on future net sales. Otsuka will assume responsibility for funding all future development activities.

Mechanism of Action and Therapeutic Potential
HBM7020 has been confirmed in preclinical studies to activate T cells and bring them into close proximity with antibody-producing B cells and plasma cells to induce cell destruction. The bispecific antibody is designed to crosslink target cells and T cells by binding to BCMA (搜索) and CD3 (搜索) on the cell surface, leading to potent T cell activation and targeted cell elimination.
Since many autoimmune diseases (搜索) involve B cells and plasma cells that produce autoantibodies, HBM7020 is expected to have broad efficacy against these diseases.
