The new hub forms part of the Mayor of London's wider £3.2 million investment programme designed to create fair, inclusive and sustainable employment and training opportunities, enabling more Londoners to access high-quality career opportunities. The life sciences sector is one of three to benefit from this investment, alongside creative industries and construction, with each sector receiving its own dedicated talent hub.
A Collaborative Network Across London
Paddington Life Sciences (搜索) will lead the hub with partners drawn from across London's life sciences sector, including the Knowledge Quarter, SC1 London, White City, Barts Life Sciences, and the Inclusive Health and Life Sciences Coalition. Partners within the hub will work together to ensure that training and skills programmes meet the needs of employers within the sector.
Howard Dawber, Deputy Mayor of London for Business and Chair of MedCity, highlighted the scale of the commitment, noting that "with £1m funding from the Mayor, this new Life Sciences Talent Hub will deliver vital jobs and training support so that more Londoners, whatever their starting point, can access high-quality career opportunities in this exciting and fast-growing sector."
Building a Skilled Workforce for the Future
Jose Acuyo, Head of Strategy, Partnerships & Innovation at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, emphasised the strategic importance of the initiative: "London's life sciences sector is one of the capital's greatest strengths, bringing together world-leading research, healthcare, innovation and industry to improve lives and drive economic growth. Maintaining London's position as a global life sciences leader depends on developing the diverse, skilled workforce that the sector needs both now and in the future."
Acuyo further explained the hub's role in coordinating London's skills and talent system, stating that the goal is "to ensure employers can engage more effectively with London's skills and talent system while helping to build a future workforce that will support innovation, inclusive growth and better health outcomes across the capital."

The new Life Sciences Talent Hub will build on London's existing strengths, helping to coordinate the capital's skills and talent system so that employers can engage more effectively and support more people into the life science sector. The strong workforce and sector knowledge within Paddington Life Sciences (搜索) and the wider partner group positions the hub well to support sector growth across London.
Acuyo underscored the long-term vision, noting that "the new hub gives us a unique opportunity to strengthen talent pipelines, but sustained collaboration and investment in skills, innovation and talent will also be essential to maintaining London's global competitiveness and creating opportunities for Londoners."
