This latest financing brings Peptilogics (搜索)' total equity funding to approximately $120 million, alongside substantial non-dilutive grant support from CARB-X. The investment will specifically fund a pivotal Phase 2/3 clinical trial targeting one of orthopedic surgery's most challenging complications.
Addressing a Critical Unmet Medical Need
Prosthetic joint infections (搜索) represent a devastating complication affecting an estimated 45,000 patients annually in the United States. These infections can transform successful joint replacements into prolonged medical crises, often requiring multiple surgeries, extended hospitalizations, and costly rehabilitation processes.
Currently, no FDA-approved therapeutic exists specifically for PJI, leaving patients dependent on suboptimal interventions. Standard approaches include DAIR (debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention), which carries a failure rate of approximately 50%, or two-stage revision procedures that still fail in 15-25% of cases despite requiring multiple surgeries and months of disability.
