PhnyX Lab (搜索), a Seoul-based GenAI startup, closed a $4 million seed funding round led by SK Networks (搜索) to transform life science company operations through artificial intelligence.
The company's flagship platform Cheiron (搜索) has achieved rapid adoption with over 60 companies, including all of Korea's top 10 pharmaceutical companies by revenue, using it to streamline research workflows.
PhnyX Lab (搜索) is expanding into medical writing automation with Cheiron Write (搜索), which aims to compress documentation workflows from months to weeks or hours through strategic partnerships with SK Biopharmaceuticals (搜索) and Samil Pharmaceutical (搜索).
PhnyX Lab (搜索), a Seoul-based generative AI startup focused on transforming life science operations, has successfully closed a $4 million seed funding round through a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE). The round was led by SK Networks (搜索), with participation from notable angel investors including Aidan Gomez, co-founder and CEO of Cohere (搜索), and Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of NEAR Protocol (搜索)—both original co-authors of "Attention Is All You Need," the foundational work that established transformer architecture for modern generative AI models including ChatGPT.
Rapid Market Adoption Drives Growth
The company's flagship platform, Cheiron (搜索), launched in December 2024 and has already demonstrated significant market traction. Over 60 companies, including all of Korea's top 10 pharmaceutical companies by revenue, are currently using Cheiron to streamline complex workflows such as research paper and clinical trial searches.
"This funding marks an important milestone that reflects PhnyX Lab (搜索)'s potential to fundamentally transform how life science companies work," said Min-seok Bae, CEO of PhnyX Lab. "Our mission goes beyond improving efficiency—we're reimagining the way critical work gets done, helping organizations accelerate not only drug discovery but also approval and delivery."
Expanding Into Medical Writing Automation
Building on Cheiron (搜索)'s early success, PhnyX Lab (搜索) is expanding the platform into a broader product suite. In June, the company entered strategic partnerships with SK Biopharmaceuticals (搜索) and Samil Pharmaceutical (搜索) to support the development of Cheiron Write (搜索), a new offering designed to automate medical writing processes.
Cheiron Write (搜索) represents a significant advancement in pharmaceutical documentation efficiency, aiming to compress workflows that traditionally require months into timeframes of weeks or even hours. This expansion marks a pivotal step toward transforming manual, fragmented pharmaceutical processes into intelligent, integrated workflows.
Strategic Investment and Vision
The involvement of high-profile investors reflects confidence in PhnyX Lab (搜索)'s transformative potential. The participation of Gomez and Polosukhin, both pioneers in transformer technology, followed extensive discussions with Sung-hwan Choi, Executive Advisor to PhnyX Lab and COO of SK Networks (搜索), and CEO Min-seok Bae, demonstrating shared conviction in AI's transformative role in life sciences.
"The early success of our Cheiron (搜索) platform and its rapid adoption by leading pharmaceutical companies has proven the real-world impact of our technology," Bae noted. "With this funding, we're positioned to scale our team, deepen our product capabilities, and forge global partnerships that push the boundaries of what's possible in life sciences."
The funding will enable PhnyX Lab (搜索) to advance its vision of fundamentally reengineering how life sciences work, moving the industry toward more intelligent and integrated operational frameworks.
