Pulse Pharmaceuticals secures world-first approval for nanocarrier-entrapped Vitamin D3 oral dispersion
核心洞察
Pulse Pharmaceuticals (搜索) has received DCGI approval for its nano-carrier entrapped Vitamin D3 oral dispersion, described as a global first for nanocarrier-entrapped vitamin D3 delivery systems.
Clinical evaluations show the oral dispersion yields 50% to 60% higher serum vitamin D levels compared to traditional formulations, improving efficacy and therapeutic outcomes.
The product is built on Pulse's proprietary 'Aqueol' platform technology, developed since 2010 to enable fat-soluble, lipophilic compounds to disperse in water-based mediums for better absorption.
Hyderabad-based Pulse Pharmaceuticals (搜索) has secured regulatory approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for its novel Nano-Carrier Entrapped Vitamin D3 Oral Dispersion, a milestone the company describes as a global first for nanocarrier-entrapped vitamin D3 delivery systems. The authorization converts years of scientific research into a regulated, patient-ready product and marks a key advancement for India's domestic nanomedicine sector.
The approval is widely regarded as a world-first for nanocarrier-entrapped vitamin D3 delivery. Extensive clinical evaluations revealed that the specialized oral dispersion yields 50 percent to 60 percent higher serum vitamin D levels in patients compared to traditional formulations, offering significantly improved efficacy and faster therapeutic outcomes.
Aqueol platform technology
At the core of the scientific breakthrough is Pulse's proprietary 'Aqueol' platform technology, which the company has been developing since 2010. The platform is engineered to tackle complex drug-delivery challenges, specifically enabling fat-soluble, lipophilic compounds to disperse and dissolve efficiently within water-based mediums for better absorption.
Beyond superior absorption, the innovation aims to enhance overall patient compliance, drug bioavailability, and clinical tolerability. By applying advanced nanotechnology to everyday essential medicines, the company seeks to address widespread public health concerns, particularly widespread micronutrient deficiencies across large populations.
Expanding therapeutic footprint
Pulse Pharmaceuticals (搜索) is already leveraging its platform technologies to expand its commercial and therapeutic footprint. The firm is adapting its proprietary delivery systems to cover other vital nutrients, including vitamin K2-7 (搜索), vitamin B12, and Iron, as well as essential pain medications such as paracetamol, diclofenac, and ibuprofen.
The achievement is backed by a robust intellectual property portfolio, with Pulse holding five granted patents across key global markets, including India, the United States, Russia, Mexico, and Australia. An EU patent for the Aqueol technology is currently in its final approval stage, alongside multiple patent applications pending across seven major jurisdictions.
Regulatory pathway and vision
Founder and Managing Director K. V. Rambabu said the approval is probably first in the world and is set to pave the way for Pulse Pharmaceuticals (搜索) to take the product to some neighboring South Asian countries, besides helping it seek regulatory approval in highly regulated markets, including the U.S.
"Our purpose has always been to identify important unmet needs in drug delivery and develop practical solutions that can make a meaningful difference to patients," Rambabu said. He emphasized that the company's focus remains on solving unmet clinical needs rather than developing technology for its own sake, adding that as India consolidates its role as the pharmacy of the world, innovations like this will help transition the nation into a primary source of global pharmaceutical R&D.
