Large-Scale Registry Analysis Reveals Persistent Disease Activity
The Amgen-sponsored retrospective cohort study analyzed de-identified patient data from the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Intelligent Research in Sight (IRIS) Registry, augmented with Komodo Health (搜索) Research Dataset claims data spanning January 1, 2017, to November 30, 2023. "We used to think that patients who have thyroid eye disease (搜索) are one and done, and then they go on to receive either medical or surgical treatments," said Madhura A. Tamhankar, MD, who presented the findings at ARVO. "But now it appears that a third of these patients may actually progress to moderate or severe forms of the disease, and a small percentage may even develop sight-threatening TED (搜索) in the form of compressive optic neuropathy (搜索)."
