Rentschler Biopharma SE, a leading global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) for biopharmaceuticals, announced today the appointment of Dr. Torsten Wöhr as Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2026. The announcement was made from the company's dual headquarters in Laupheim, Germany, and Milford, MA, USA.
Dr. Wöhr brings more than 25 years of experience across the international CDMO and biotechnology industry, combining strong commercial leadership with deep operational understanding. Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer of Bachem Group (搜索), where he led global commercial activities that drove major strategic investments, with a focus on sustainable growth. Prior to joining Bachem in mid-2017, he spent 20 years in various international leadership roles at companies including Johnson & Johnson, Genzyme, and Corden Pharma. His international experience includes more than a decade living in the United States. Dr. Wöhr holds a doctorate in bioorganic chemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne.
Leadership Transition and Strategic Vision
The appointment advances the next phase of the company's corporate strategy, aimed at further strengthening long-term growth and sustainable value creation. Following a period of interim leadership, Prof. Dr. Uwe Buecheler will step down as interim CEO and return to his role as Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board, also effective August 1, 2026.
