Rezubio (搜索), a China-based biotechnology company founded by former Merck (搜索) scientists, announced the closing of a $20 million Series A financing round to advance its innovative membrane-anchored therapeutics platform. The funding, led by Lapam Capital (搜索) with participation from Frees Fund (搜索) and Riverhead Capital (搜索), will support the company's lead program into Phase 2 clinical development for obesity and diabetes, along with other programs in IND-enabling and early preclinical stages.
Breakthrough Platform Technology
The company's proprietary Membrane-Anchored Drug Design (MADD) platform represents a novel approach to tissue-selective drug delivery. The technology uses a rationally engineered kinetophore to anchor pharmacophores to the epithelium of target tissues, enabling localized drug activity at the site of action.

The MADD platform is designed to address key limitations of conventional therapeutics by delivering minimal systemic exposure to reduce off-target and dose-limiting adverse effects, enhanced efficacy through enrichment of active compounds around cell-surface target proteins, and prolonged tissue residence time to support less frequent dosing.
Clinical Pipeline Progress
Rezubio (搜索)'s gut-targeted GPCR (搜索) agonist has entered clinical trials in Australia and is expected to provide critical proof-of-concept for the platform technology. The company plans to advance this lead program into Phase 2 clinical development for obesity and diabetes using proceeds from the Series A financing.
In parallel development, an antagonist targeting a different GPCR (搜索) for immune and inflammatory diseases is scheduled to enter Phase 1 clinical development in early 2026, expanding the platform's therapeutic applications beyond metabolic disorders.
