Trial Results Demonstrate Clear Efficacy Advantage
In the 97-patient trial, efdoralprin alfa (搜索) administered every three weeks raised trough levels for alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) protein by 24.1 micromolar at week 32, significantly outperforming the 7.6 micromolar increase achieved by weekly plasma-derived standard therapy. The study first reported meeting its main goals in October, with the detailed data now providing comprehensive evidence of the therapy's superiority.
Patients receiving Sanofi's experimental treatment maintained normal levels of AAT throughout the study period, while those on standard therapy achieved normal levels less than half the time. This sustained protein level maintenance is critical, as insufficient AAT can lead to damage in both lungs and liver.

Sanofi estimates approximately 235,000 people worldwide have alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (搜索), representing a substantial patient population for this rare genetic condition. The experimental therapy offers several potential advantages over existing treatments.
