The Aberdeen facility becomes SBS's third research site, complementing the company's Edinburgh headquarters and St Andrews hub. Professor Craig Ritchie, CEO and Founder of Scottish Brain Sciences (搜索), emphasized the importance of regional access to cutting-edge research. The center was officially opened on November 14th by Aberdeen-based research participant Lynne Carroll, highlighting SBS's commitment to patient involvement in research advancement. Carroll's participation underscores the real-world impact of diagnostic delays in Alzheimer's disease (搜索).
"It took several years to receive my Alzheimer's diagnosis, and that is the reality for so many people," Carroll explained. "By being part of research that aims to detect and treat Alzheimer's earlier, I hope I can help make the path a little clearer for others in the future."
Carroll expressed enthusiasm about the local facility's accessibility for ongoing research participation. "When they shared plans to open a research site in Aberdeen, I was thrilled, as it means I will be able to take part in trials that may require regular visits," she said.
Strategic Life Sciences Hub
The Aberdeen center is located within ONE BioHub (搜索), a launchpad for start-ups and high-potential life sciences companies. SBS joins a growing network of research-driven companies including NovaBiotics (搜索) and Genomes.io (搜索) already based at the facility.
