The five-year agreement, which includes an extension option, will integrate Seegnal's SaaS-based platform into the hospital's clinical workflows, supporting safer prescribing at one of the region's oldest and largest medical institutions.
Nazareth Hospital EMMS (搜索), founded in 1861 and operated by The Nazareth Trust, serves as the district general hospital and principal trauma center for Nazareth and surrounding communities, with a catchment area of approximately 570,000 people. The hospital is also a teaching facility affiliated with Bar-Ilan University.
The Alert Fatigue Problem
The deployment addresses a well-documented challenge in modern medicine: alert fatigue. Research shows that clinicians override anywhere from roughly half to nearly all medication safety alerts they receive, with drug-drug interaction warning override rates often reaching 90% or higher. The World Health Organization estimates that medication errors cost health systems approximately USD $42 billion annually, and more than half of all patient harm—about 1 in 20 patients—is preventable, with roughly half of that avoidable harm related to medications.
A key driver of alert fatigue is that legacy decision-support tools rely heavily on rule-based checks against standard drug-safety databases, flagging whether two drugs are known to interact without accounting for the individual patient's clinical profile. "They typically do not weigh the patient in front of the doctor, their kidney function, lab results, age, diagnoses, or full list of current medications. So the same warning fires for everyone, whether or not the combination is actually risky for that particular person," the company notes.
Clinical Evidence Supporting the Platform
Seegnal's approach is supported by peer-reviewed evidence. A 2021 study published in the journal Drug Safety, conducted by researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital—a Harvard teaching hospital—compared Seegnal's platform against the drug-safety alerts built into Epic (搜索), a widely used hospital record system, across 3,801 patients.
In the inpatient setting, Seegnal produced 94% fewer alerts—1,697 compared to Epic (搜索)'s 27,540. Its specificity, measuring how well a system avoids false alarms, was 99% versus 0.3% for the legacy system. Critically, Seegnal identified every case that reviewers classified as a genuine risk. Of the adverse drug events that occurred during the study, reviewers judged that most could potentially have been prevented by the patient-specific system.
How the Platform Works
Seegnal's platform integrates with existing hospital record systems and screens each prescription in real time against patient-specific data, including laboratory results, renal function, age, diagnoses, and medication history. When a genuine risk is identified, the system surfaces a single, plain-language alert explaining the concern and offering safer alternatives. When no risk exists for that particular patient, the system remains silent—aiming for fewer, more relevant interventions rather than more warnings.
The company reports that, as of May 2026, its system is deployed across Israeli hospitals and health maintenance organizations, screening more than 400,000 prescriptions daily for approximately 15,000 clinicians and 3.5 million patients, with more than 174 million prescriptions analyzed to date. Named users include Maccabi Healthcare Services (搜索), whose contract runs through 2031, along with Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center and Rambam.
Commercial Expansion
The Nazareth Hospital deployment represents continued expansion within Israel, while the company has also begun moving internationally. In May 2026, Seegnal announced a letter of intent for its first pilot program with a U.S.-based long-term care provider, a setting where elderly patients on multiple medications face elevated risk of preventable drug harm. Third-party research from Grand View Research values the global clinical decision support market at approximately $6.36 billion in 2025, projected to reach roughly $15.32 billion by 2033, representing an 11.8% compound annual growth rate.
