Under the agreement executed on December 22, 2025, Shionogi (搜索) will acquire 100% of the shares of a newly established company that Tanabe Pharma (搜索) will create to hold the RADICAVA rights. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close on or after April 1, 2026. Shionogi may also pay additional royalties on future sales under certain conditions.

RADICAVA ORS received FDA approval on May 12, 2022, for ALS (搜索) treatment and was granted Orphan Drug Exclusivity in 2024 based on its major contribution to patient care through an oral suspension route that avoids the burdens of intravenous administration. The drug has been prescribed by over 2,600 healthcare professionals and has provided over 2.5 million days of therapy.
Edaravone was originally discovered and developed for ALS (搜索) by Tanabe Pharma (搜索) through a 13-year research program that began in 2001.
