Simris Biologics Appoints ADC Expert Professor Andreas Pahl as CEO to Advance Microcystin Payload Platform
核心洞察
Professor Andreas Pahl, former CEO of Heidelberg Pharma, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Simris Biologics GmbH (搜索), effective immediately.
Pahl brings over 25 years of ADC development experience, including leading Heidelberg Pharma's amanitin (搜索)-based ADC platform into Phase I clinical validation.
He will focus on maximizing the value of Simris' differentiated Microcystin (搜索) ADC payload platform and accelerating programs toward clinical development.
Simris Group AB (搜索) has appointed Professor Andreas Pahl as Chief Executive Officer of its wholly owned subsidiary Simris Biologics GmbH (搜索), the Berlin-based company announced today. Professor Pahl, a recognized expert in antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) development, begins his assignment immediately and will lead the advancement of the company's Microcystin (搜索) platform.
Professor Pahl joins Simris Biologics with more than 25 years of experience spanning drug discovery, translational science, clinical development, and corporate leadership. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Heidelberg Pharma AG, having previously held the position of Chief Scientific Officer. During his tenure at Heidelberg Pharma, he helped build the company into a leading ADC developer and led the advancement of its amanitin (搜索)-based ADC platform, which uses a payload derived from the death cap mushroom (Amanita phalloides). Under his leadership, the platform advanced into the clinic and was successfully validated in a Phase I study.
"Professor Pahl brings deep scientific expertise, extensive ADC development experience, and a strong track record in naturally derived payloads," said Jonathan Royce, Chairman of the Board at Simris Biologics. "He understands both the science and the challenges of building an ADC company. His decision to join Simris is a strong endorsement of our technology and the opportunity ahead."
Strategic Focus on Microcystin (搜索) Platform
Simris Biologics is focused on developing next-generation ADC payloads based on nature-derived technologies. The company's differentiated approach centers on microcystins, a class of biologically active compounds sourced from cyanobacteria. Professor Pahl's mandate is to maximize the value of this platform, broaden the company's capabilities, and advance multiple programs toward clinical development.
"Simris has built a strong scientific foundation and developed a differentiated approach to ADC payload discovery," Professor Pahl commented. "ADCs continue to reshape cancer treatment, and I believe the Company is well positioned to build on its progress and create significant value from its technology for the benefit of patients and its shareholders."
Funding and Next Steps
Subject to completion of a warrant exercise announced on July 6, 2026, the company expects to receive gross proceeds of up to €1 million. These funds will support ongoing Microcystin (搜索)-ADC studies designed to generate in vivo safety and efficacy data for candidate microcystin payloads. The results are expected to strengthen Simris' payload platform and support future growth and development decisions.
Leadership Background
Before Heidelberg Pharma, Professor Pahl held senior scientific leadership positions at Nycomed and Takeda Pharmaceuticals (搜索), where he led multidisciplinary drug development programs. Earlier in his career, he held academic roles at the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where he was appointed Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology. He continues to teach and conduct internationally recognized research in molecular pharmacology and oncology.
