The funding coincides with the in-licensing of SLTE-1009 (搜索), an anti-PACAP monoclonal antibody acquired from DartsBio Pharmaceuticals (搜索) (Guangdong).
Novel Target for Migraine Prevention
SLTE-1009 (搜索), also referred to as DS009 (搜索), is a monoclonal antibody developed to target PACAP (搜索) to prevent migraines and other headache disorders. PACAP is considered a distinct clinically validated target compared to calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), possibly offering benefits for those not effectively treated by current therapies.
The therapy incorporates half-life extension technology, allowing for subcutaneous dosing. This feature enables convenient at-home administration, potentially improving patient access and compliance compared to existing treatment options.
Addressing Unmet Medical Need
Chief Medical Officer Roger Cady, a specialist in headache medicine and former neurology vice-president at Alder Biopharmaceuticals (搜索), emphasized the clinical significance of the PACAP (搜索) target. "PACAP blockade represents a clinically validated approach for the prevention of migraine headaches," Cady said. "For the millions of patients with an inadequate response to the existing standard of care, we believe that SLTE-1009 (搜索) offers a novel, orthogonal approach to preventing migraines."
Experienced Leadership Team
The company is headed by CEO and board director Gregory Oakes, who brings more than 30 years of experience from clinical-stage and commercial biopharma organizations. Oakes previously worked as a venture partner at Raven, RA Capital (搜索)'s healthcare arm, and held executive roles at Celgene, Landos Biopharma, Vifor Pharma, and Novartis.
Neil Buckley has joined as COO and president after serving as a venture partner at Raven, further strengthening the company's operational capabilities.

Pipeline Development
Beyond SLTE-1009 (搜索), Slate Medicines (搜索) is also developing another pipeline project, though details of this additional program have not yet been disclosed. The substantial Series A funding provides the company with resources to advance its lead program while exploring additional opportunities in the migraine treatment space.
