Study on Diacylglycerol Edible Oil's Impact on Chronic Metabolic Syndrome Patients with Hyperuricemia

Chronic metabolic syndrome encompasses a cluster of conditions including abdominal obesity, hyperglycemia/insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, significantly impacting health by promoting diseases like atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and type 2 diabetes. Hyperuricemia, a condition characterized by elevated serum uric acid levels, is increasingly prevalent in China, affecting a younger demographic and associated with cardiometabolic abnormalities.

This study hypothesizes that DAG oil, a product of glycerol esterified with two fatty acids, can ameliorate conditions in patients with chronic metabolic syndrome complicated by hyperuricemia. DAG oil, found in natural oils at low concentrations, has been shown to reduce blood lipid levels and body fat accumulation when its content in edible oil exceeds 80%.

The trial design involves 176 participants randomly assigned to either a DAG oil or TAG oil group, with both groups receiving 40 ml of their respective oils daily for 12 weeks. The study will measure primary outcomes such as serum uric acid levels and secondary outcomes including fasting blood glucose, lipid profiles, blood pressure, and body mass index.

Participants will be recruited from four hospitals in China, with strict inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure the study's scientific rigor. The trial also includes detailed plans for data management, participant retention, and adverse event reporting to ensure the integrity and safety of the study.

This research aims to provide valuable insights into the potential health benefits of DAG oil for individuals with chronic metabolic syndrome and hyperuricemia, contributing to the development of dietary interventions for metabolic disorders.
