The Max Foundation (搜索) and Novartis have partnered for more than 25 years based on the shared belief that geography should not determine patient destiny.
Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, CEO of The Max Foundation (搜索), highlighted that the two organizations twice created healthcare delivery systems in regions where none previously existed.
The partnership is cited as a model of how science and compassion can converge to serve patients most in need, particularly in underserved areas.
For more than a quarter century, The Max Foundation (搜索) and Novartis have sustained a partnership rooted in a singular conviction: that a patient's geographic location should not dictate their access to life-saving treatment. Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer at The Max Foundation, reflected on the collaboration in a recent statement coinciding with Novartis marking 30 years since the European Commission approved the merger that created the pharmaceutical company.
"This sentence jumped out at me: 'Novartis was built by people who were willing to do things nobody had done before,'" Garcia-Gonzalez wrote, referencing a statement by Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan. "I have witnessed this to be true and fully agree."
The partnership between the two organizations spans more than 25 years, during which they have twice embarked on initiatives described as unprecedented: building healthcare delivery systems in regions where such infrastructure did not previously exist. "Not for one minute have I taken for granted the trust, as twice in the past two decades we embarked together to do something that had never been done before: creating systems in service of people where these systems did not exist," Garcia-Gonzalez stated.
The Max Foundation (搜索), in a separate post amplifying Garcia-Gonzalez's message, noted: "For more than two decades, our partnership has demonstrated what's possible when science and compassion come together in the service of patients." The organization expressed optimism about the future, adding, "We look forward to broader collaboration in the years ahead."
Novartis, reflecting on its 30-year history, noted that the company was "built on more than 250 years of science, discovery, and people willing to try what had never been done before." The company emphasized that this foundation "has helped turn ideas once considered out of reach into realities for patients." Looking forward, Novartis stated it is focused on "the next questions science can help answer – and the patients who are still waiting for necessary treatments."
Garcia-Gonzalez expressed hope that the enduring collaboration between The Max Foundation (搜索) and Novartis would serve as a catalyst for broader industry action. "I hope these efforts encourage others in the industry to lead with courage and create deeper impact on the lives of thousands more families in the years ahead," she said.
