Theia Ventures Leads Pre-Seed Funding for Lemnisca's AI-Driven Biomanufacturing Platform
核心洞察
Theia Ventures (搜索) led a pre-seed funding round for Lemnisca (搜索), a Bio-AI company developing intelligent systems to scale biomanufacturing processes.
Lemnisca (搜索)'s AI companion for fermentation aims to reduce development timelines by up to 50% and improve operating efficiency by 25%.
The funding will support Lemnisca (搜索)'s Bengaluru lab, AI platform development, and early pilot programs to advance sustainable bioproduction.
Theia Ventures (搜索) has led a pre-seed funding round for Lemnisca (搜索), an emerging Bio-AI company building intelligent systems to scale biomanufacturing. The round also saw participation from PointOne Capital (搜索) and Dr. Satakarni Makkapati, marking Theia's third investment in artificial intelligence-driven biomanufacturing technologies.
The funding will support Lemnisca (搜索)'s Bengaluru laboratory operations, AI platform development, and early pilot programs aimed at scaling sustainable bioproduction. This investment reinforces Theia's commitment to backing transformative technologies that enable sustainable industrial production.
AI-Powered Fermentation Optimization
Lemnisca (搜索) is developing an AI companion for fermentation that helps manufacturers scale bioprocesses faster, more predictably, and with greater efficiency. As industries shift toward renewable feedstocks and biological alternatives to petrochemicals, scalable biomanufacturing has become essential for sustainable production.
The company's science-aware AI works alongside scientists and operators, coupling wet-lab experimentation with dry-lab modeling to understand process biology and steer production in real time. This approach creates a continuously learning system designed to make biomanufacturing more efficient, predictable, and fundamentally more reliable.
Ambitious Performance Targets
Lemnisca (搜索) aims to achieve significant improvements in biomanufacturing efficiency through its AI platform. The company targets reducing development timelines by up to 50% and improving operating efficiency by 25%. Additionally, the platform is designed to accelerate adoption of renewable and waste-carbon feedstocks, ensuring rapid validation and scalable impact.
"From day one, our question was simple: how do we make biomanufacturing the default manufacturing mode globally?" said Pushkar Pendse, Co-founder & CEO of Lemnisca (搜索). "Our focus is to build the digital operating system that brings biology from lab to factory, making scale-up faster, smarter, and globally accessible."
Strategic Partnerships and Market Approach
Lemnisca (搜索) will initially partner with fermentation-led manufacturers already advancing along their biomanufacturing journey, while also building its own internal product pipeline. The company is currently inviting pilot collaborations and strategic partnerships across contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), original equipment manufacturers/system integrators (OEMs/SIs), and global ingredient brands.
"We are rethinking everything, right from lab workflows to model architectures," added Shilpa Nargund, Co-founder & CTO of Lemnisca (搜索). "The goal is fewer surprises at scale and faster, repeatable success."
Investor Perspective
Priya Shah, Partner at Theia Ventures (搜索), emphasized the strategic importance of the investment: "We are delighted to be early partners in Lemnisca (搜索)'s journey, where we firmly believe that biomanufacturing in today's era needs advanced digital simulators that predict how microbial processes will perform before reaching large industrial scale. The team brings rich practical experience to support the symbiotic development of this product to be applied to nutraceutical markets."
This investment represents Theia Ventures (搜索)' third deployment from its new fund, which announced its first close anchored by British International Investment (搜索). The fund previously invested in Sarla Aviation (搜索), an electric aircraft company, and Climitra Carbon (搜索), a biochar company serving the steel industry. Theia has committed to three additional investments to be deployed within the current financial year.
