UVA Health to Bring NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Care to Lynchburg This Fall

The new clinic, located at 103 Clifton St., will provide most standard cancer (搜索) treatments including infusion therapies through the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center (搜索), one of only 58 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers nationally.
The initiative aims to reduce long-distance travel for patients who currently travel to Charlottesville, while creating capacity to serve additional patients in the Lynchburg and Southside Virginia community.
UVA Health (搜索) will begin offering cancer (搜索) care services in Lynchburg this fall, giving patients in the region access to high-quality medical oncology care starting in late October or early November. The new cancer clinic will be located at 103 Clifton St. on the ground floor of the UVA Health Lynchburg Dialysis building.
Most standard cancer (搜索) treatments, including infusion therapies, will be available at the clinic through the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center (搜索), one of just 58 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers nationally. The designation is awarded to elite cancer centers for outstanding cancer care and research.

"We're excited to bring the expertise and skill of our team at the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center (搜索) to patients in Lynchburg and Southside Virginia."
Expanding Access and Reducing Travel Burden
The clinic will allow many patients in Lynchburg who now travel to Charlottesville to receive cancer (搜索) care closer to home, while creating capacity for UVA Health (搜索) to serve additional patients in the community.
"Traveling long distances to receive care can be especially challenging for patients undergoing cancer (搜索) treatment, so we are looking forward to making our care more convenient for the many patients we already serve around Lynchburg," said Leigh Cantrell, MD, MSPH, associate director for clinical affairs at the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center (搜索).
Complementing Existing Regional Services
The new cancer (搜索) clinic adds to an array of UVA Health (搜索) services already offered in Lynchburg, including dialysis, cellular therapy, gynecologic oncology, nephrology, asthma, allergy and immunology.
