Value Partners Group (搜索), Insilico Medicine (搜索), Shanghai Pudong Development (搜索), and Shanghai Pudong Construction (搜索) have jointly launched an "AI+Life Sciences" corporate venture capital fund in mainland China, marking a new push to pool industrial capital behind AI-driven drug discovery. The yuan-denominated fund will focus on collaborative industrial investments across the AI and life sciences ecosystem.
The fund will be managed by Value Partners Private Equity Investment (Shenzhen) (搜索), the group's licensed onshore private fund manager, which will serve as general partner and fund manager.
Leung Chuen-yan, partner and private investments at Value Partners Group (搜索), explained the rationale behind the initiative, noting that life sciences stands out for its "highest data density, the most complete validation cycles, and the clearest path to commercialisation."
The partners bring complementary strengths to the venture. Shanghai Pudong serves as a hub for both life sciences and AI, and the two Pudong groups add industrial platforms and regional ecosystem knowledge, according to Leung.
Li Junlan, chairperson of Pudong Development Group, said the fund marks a new phase of collaboration with Insilico Medicine (搜索), moving from industrial implementation to capital and ecosystem integration. The stated goal is building a globally influential AI-life sciences cluster in Pudong.
Alex Zhavoronkov, founder and co-chief executive officer of Insilico Medicine (搜索), said the company aims to combine capital, industry insights, and resources to "reduce early-stage innovation risk" and speed commercialisation of breakthroughs.
The fund reflects growing appetite for pooling industrial capital behind AI-driven drug discovery in China, tying frontier research to established regional platforms and a clear commercial path.
