核心洞察
Wellgistics Health (搜索) has launched diabetes drug Brenzavvy through its network of over 6,500 independent pharmacies, targeting the $16 billion SGLT-2 (搜索) inhibitor market that serves 33 million Americans with type II diabetes.
The company's proprietary EinsteinRx artificial intelligence platform will enable pharmacists to educate providers on Brenzavvy's advantages over market leaders like Jardiance, particularly for uninsured and underinsured patients.
The launch establishes a new pharmacist-led provider education model designed to improve patient access to cost-effective diabetes treatment while creating revenue opportunities for independent pharmacies.
Wellgistics Health (搜索), Inc. (NASDAQ: WGRX) has announced the commercial launch of diabetes prescription drug Brenzavvy through its network of over 6,500 independent pharmacies, targeting a significant portion of the 33 million Americans diagnosed with type II diabetes whose out-of-pocket costs for SGLT-2 (搜索) inhibitor drugs exceed Brenzavvy's cash price.
The launch positions Brenzavvy as a cost-effective alternative in the $16.8 billion SGLT-2 (搜索) inhibitor market, which reached that figure in 2024 and is projected to grow to $28.9 billion by 2033, with the United States representing 40.8% of the global market according to Grandview Research.
AI-Powered Pharmacy Platform Drives Provider Education
The company's proprietary EinsteinRx artificial intelligence pharmacy platform will be integrated into the Wellgistics Pharmacy Network's point-of-sales systems to alert pharmacists to patients who may benefit from SGLT-2 (搜索) inhibitor therapy. The platform will identify patients with likely class 1A recommendations for SGLT-2 inhibitors and highlight potential patient benefits from dispensing Brenzavvy versus other drugs in the class.
"By rapidly helping providers optimize therapy selection for patients without delaying dispensing timelines, pharmacists are uniquely positioned to help drive better outcomes for their patients without increasing out-of-pocket costs," said Prashant Patel, RPh, President & Interim-CEO of Wellgistics Health (搜索).
Addressing Prescription Gap in Diabetes Care
A large-scale analysis of data from 28 US health systems in 2022-2023 revealed that guideline-recommended prescription of SGLT-2 (搜索) inhibitors in diabetics with a class 1A recommendation is only 11.9%, indicating suboptimal care for the vast majority of such patients. The Wellgistics platform aims to address this gap by empowering pharmacists to educate providers on the benefits of Brenzavvy versus other SGLT-2 inhibitors, particularly in patients without cardiovascular disease or chronic kidney disease.
Rural Focus and Market Access Strategy
The Wellgistics Pharmacy Network primarily targets patients in rural communities, where there is often an increased incidence of diabetes. The launch specifically focuses on uninsured and underinsured patients, offering Brenzavvy at a competitive cash price compared to established market leaders like Jardiance.
"Pharmacists are one of the most trusted sources of information about how prescription drugs will impact the health of patients, especially in rural communities," Patel noted. "EinsteinRx is empowering these trusted healthcare professionals with the advanced technology they need to get the right drug to the right patient at the right time."
Revenue Model for Independent Pharmacies
The initiative creates remuneration opportunities for pharmacists through both product dispensing and educational services, with the latter designed to improve return on investment by educating providers on patient-specific advantages of Brenzavvy. This pharmacist-led provider education model is intended to serve as a blueprint for other later-generation drugs with similar product profile advantages to rapidly establish market share.
The launch represents Wellgistics' broader strategy of integrating its EinsteinRx artificial intelligence platform into its patented blockchain-enabled smart contracts platform PharmacyChain to optimize prescription drug dispensing. The company's integrated platform connects over 6,500 pharmacies and 200+ manufacturers, offering wholesale distribution, digital prescription routing, and AI-powered services including eligibility verification, adherence monitoring, and prior authorization support.
