West Launches Synchrony™ Prefillable Syringe System to Support Biologics and Vaccines in Asia-Pacific Markets
核心洞察
West Pharmaceutical Services introduces the West Synchrony™ prefillable syringe system (搜索), a fully integrated platform combining barrel, plunger, and needle shield into a single-source verified system.
The system is designed specifically for biologics and vaccines, offering streamlined regulatory submission with one system-level drug master file and comprehensive data packages.
Chinese biopharmaceutical companies accounted for nearly 50% of all new drug molecules entering human trials in the first half of 2025, driving demand for advanced delivery infrastructure.
West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. (NYSE: WST) has announced the availability of its West Synchrony™ prefillable syringe (PFS) system across key Asia-Pacific markets, unveiling the integrated platform at CPHI & PMEC China 2026 in Shanghai (June 16–18) and CPHI Southeast Asia in Bangkok (July 8–10, 2026). The launch represents a strategic move to support the region's rapidly expanding biologics and vaccines sector with a fully verified, single-supplier containment and delivery system.
The West Synchrony™ PFS system uniquely integrates the syringe barrel, plunger, and needle shield/tip cap into a harmonized, verified platform from one source. This design eliminates the traditional approach of sourcing individual components from multiple suppliers, which the company notes introduces significant technical and regulatory complexities.
Addressing a Growing Regional Need
The launch comes as China's biopharmaceutical sector demonstrates increasing global influence. According to Goldman Sachs research cited by West, Chinese companies accounted for nearly 50% of all new drug molecules entering human trials in the first half of 2025 alone. As more biopharmaceutical companies pursue "Go Global" strategies, the demand for advanced drug delivery systems that meet international regulatory standards has intensified.
"As our biopharmaceutical players in Southeast Asia expand into more complex biologics and vaccine programs, there is a growing need for infrastructure that can support both quality and scale, while reducing technical, regulatory and supply chain complexity," said Maha Guruswamy, Vice President & Managing Director, Commercial, Asia Pacific at West. "Integrated solutions like the West Synchrony™ PFS system help address these challenges, enabling our partners to accelerate development and safely deliver therapies to patients."
System-Level Verification and Regulatory Streamlining
The platform offers three core benefits. First, a single design verification and characterization package ensures the form, fit, and function of the entire PFS system. Second, regulatory submission is streamlined through one system-level drug master file and a comprehensive regulatory package tailored to diverse regulatory requirements. Third, a single-source supply model provides both make-to-stock and make-to-order options with low minimum order quantities, ensuring reliability and flexibility.
Philip Wang, Senior Director, Commercial, China at West, emphasized the company's long-term commitment: "As China's biopharmaceutical companies continue to strengthen their capabilities and expand their presence globally, West is committed to partnering with them at every stage of their growth journey. We aim to enable them to achieve their global ambitions."
Deepening Partnership with China's Pharmaceutical Ecosystem
The introduction of the West Synchrony™ PFS system reflects West's decades-long presence in China's pharmaceutical industry. The investment extends beyond product offerings to include technical expertise, regulatory support, and single-source accountability serving both domestic Chinese companies and multinational partners operating in the country.
The system is now available to biopharmaceutical companies in both China and Southeast Asia. West, headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, operates across 50 sites including 26 manufacturing facilities worldwide, delivering over 41 billion components and devices annually, with fiscal year 2025 net sales of USD 3.07 billion.
