The patent, titled "System and Method for Dry Coating of Substrate Materials," represents a significant advancement in production efficiency and environmental sustainability, according to a university statement.
The innovation was developed through a collaborative research partnership bridging academia and industry. The team includes Dr. Dirar Al-Omari from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yarmouk University, Dr. Sami Qasem from Tabuk Pharmaceuticals (搜索), and industrial expert Hussein Talafha of Talafha Industrial Establishment (搜索).
A Solvent-Free Manufacturing Paradigm
The patented technology introduces a modification to pneumatic flow compression equipment conventionally used in coating solid pharmaceutical products. The key breakthrough lies in enabling the coating process to operate entirely without liquid solvents — whether organic or water-based — marking what the researchers describe as an important technological shift in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
By eliminating solvent use, the system improves production efficiency, reduces manufacturing time, and cuts operational costs by more than half. University officials indicated that the effort aims to transform research outcomes into economic value while strengthening Jordan's position in regional and international innovation ecosystems.
