EU-Funded TRANSCAN-3 Project Advances Personalized T Cell Therapy for Esophageal Cancer

- The TRANSCAN-3 consortium has completed tumor sequencing for nearly all patient samples and identified key genetic alterations to inform neoantigen prediction in esophageal adenocarcinoma patients who don't respond to standard treatments. - Ardigen has refined its AI-based platform ARDentify to prioritize tumor-specific antigens using patient genomic data, while PEPperPRINT has advanced the T-Plex-Capture workflow for isolating tumor-neoantigen-specific CD8+ T cells. - The project aims to develop personalized adoptive T cell therapies for the approximately 80% of esophageal adenocarcinoma patients who experience incomplete tumor regression with current chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery approaches. - European collaboration is demonstrating how combining expertise in oncology, immunology, and computational biology can accelerate innovation in establishing new frameworks for personalized cancer treatment.
