- India's CDSCO panel has granted permission for Jeevan Scientific to conduct a Phase I clinical trial of their bevacizumab biosimilar BE1040V, comparing it to Roche's Avastin in healthy subjects. - The approval follows presentation of supporting Phase III safety data from Iran, where the product is already approved and marketed by AryoGen Pharmed. - The double-blind, randomized pharmacokinetic study will evaluate the biosimilar's bioequivalence to the reference product under fasting conditions for export purposes. - Bevacizumab remains a critical anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody therapy used in combination with chemotherapy for multiple cancer types since its FDA approval in 2004.
