Research Council of Finland Awards €79 Million for Biosciences, Health and Environment Research, Including Key Drug Development and Disease Projects

- The Research Council of Finland's Scientific Council for Biosciences, Health and the Environment allocated approximately €29 million to 42 new Academy Research Fellows and €50 million to 75 Academy Projects, each spanning four years. - Among the funded projects, several focus on pharmaceutical R&D including endocrine-disruption-induced endometriosis, circadian clock targeting for blinding eye disease, and biofilm-associated tuberculosis persistence. - Success rates for this funding round were 16% for Academy Research Fellow positions and 17% for Academy Project applications. - Tampere University researchers secured fellowships for studies on Ca2+ signaling in retinal pigment epithelium, psychedelics' effects on autobiographical memory, and epigenetic control of prostate cancer resistance.
