VeraBIND Tau Assay Shows Superior Early Detection Capabilities for Alzheimer's Disease in AAIC 2025 Studies

- Two independent analyses presented at AAIC 2025 demonstrate that Veravas' VeraBIND Tau assay accurately measures active tau pathology in both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals with >95% sensitivity and 95% specificity. - Unlike current plasma tau methods like pTau217 that are sensitive at later disease stages, VeraBIND shows high sensitivity in early PET-based Braak-like stages 1-3 of tau aggregation, years before symptoms appear. - The blood-based test measures pathological binding activity between hyperphosphorylated tau and normal tau, providing a more direct measure of disease activity than existing biomarker quantification tests. - The assay correctly identifies MK6240-positive individuals regardless of cognitive impairment status or amyloid status, potentially transforming early Alzheimer's diagnosis and clinical trial recruitment.
