FDA Approves Iloperidone (Fanapt®) for Acute Treatment of Bipolar I Disorder

- The FDA has approved iloperidone (Fanapt®) for the acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults. - Fanapt®, an atypical antipsychotic, was previously approved in 2009 for the treatment of schizophrenia. - The approval was based on a pivotal study involving approximately 400 participants, assessing the primary endpoint at Week 4 of treatment.
