简要总结
Mask ventilation MV plays a vital role in effective manual ventilation improving oxygenation and ventilation and buying time until a definitive airway can be secured Of the various techniques that exist for mask holding the most widely recognised is the CE technique Another technique which has been recently described is the Hook technique which involves a chin lift maneuver while securely fitting the mask This has been suggested to be better when compared to the CE Technique for prolonged use with less fatigue and finger discomfort
Our study aims to compare the expired tidal volume Vt received during single rescuer face mask ventilation in a mannequin model while holding the face mask using a standard CE technique or Hook technique among medical undergraduate students who were novices to mask holding
This study will be a randomised Cross Sectional trial After a brief orientation participants will be randomly allocated to Group CH or Group HC In group CH the participants will first hold the mask by the CE technique and then by the hook technique In Group HC the participants will first hold the mask by the hook technique and then by the CE technique with a rest period in between Breaths will be delivered by connecting the mask to a circuit connected to an anaesthesia ventilator to deliver volume controlled ventilation at a tidal volume of 500 ml rate of 10 breaths min and PEEP of 0 cms H2O The primary outcome measure is the mean expired Vt and the secondary outcomes will include the comfortability score and the participants overall preference for one of the techniques

结局指标
主要结局
The expired tidal volume VT (in mL) using the CE mask holding technique and the Hook technique and their comparison
时间窗: Immediately after performing BMV with each technique on a mannequin, ventilation metrics were recorded; statistical analysis followed complete data collection from all participants.
次要结局
- To assess the comfortability of mask holding of both techniques & overall preference of the techniques.(Immediately after performing both techniques, participants rated comfort on a 5-point Likert scale & indicated their preference (CE or Hook technique).)
