Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\) Patients with chronic periodontitis will be diagnosed according to the criteria of 1999 American Academy of Periodontology Workshop
- •2\) Patients with clinical attachment loss \>\= 5mm at more than 30% of the sites.
- •3\)Patients with Bleeding on probing
- •4\) Patients with \>\=20 functional teeth.
- •5\) Patients were considered to be well controlled Type II diabetic when presenting with fasting blood glucose levels of 126mg/dL, and glycated hemoglobin (6\.0 to 6\.5%). \[According to the criteria of American Diabetes Association 2010]
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\) They suffer from any systemic condition (except Type II Diabetes mellitus) that could affect the progression of periodontal disease (immunological disorders), smokers and former smokers, alcoholics and former alcoholics, obese, pregnant and lactating women and those taking oral contraceptive drugs.
- •2\) There is a presence of an active infection other than periodontitis.
- •3\) There is an intake of antibiotics/ corticosteroids and or non steroidal anti\-inflammatory drugs during the previous 4 weeks.
- •4\) They had received professional periodontal treatment during the 6 month period prior to the study.
- •5\) They had used mouth rinses containing antimicrobials in the preceding 2 months.
- •6\) Subjects with periapical pathology, orthodontic appliances and multiple systemic complications of diabetes mellitus, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, RA, Nephritis will also be excluded from the study.
