简要总结

Inguinal hernia repair is one of the most commonly performed general surgical procedures. Mesh fixation in Lichtenstein tension-free hernioplasty is traditionally done using polypropylene sutures, but this may increase postoperative pain, operative time, and risk of nerve entrapment. Cyanoacrylate surgical glue has emerged as an alternative method for mesh fixation that may reduce pain and operative time without compromising surgical outcomes.

This randomized controlled trial aims to compare mesh fixation using cyanoacrylate glue versus polypropylene sutures in adult patients undergoing elective Lichtenstein inguinal hernia repair. The study will evaluate postoperative pain, operative time, postoperative complications, return to activities, hospital stay, recurrence, and patient satisfaction. The findings may help determine whether glue fixation can be recommended as a safe and effective alternative to suture fixation in routine hernia surgery.

入选标准

  • Adult patients aged 18–65 years.
  • Patients diagnosed with primary unilateral or bilateral inguinal hernia.
  • Patients planned for elective Lichtenstein tension-free hernioplasty.
  • Patients who are willing to participate and able to provide written informed consent.

排除标准

  • Recurrent inguinal hernia.
  • Complicated hernias (strangulated, obstructed, incarcerated).
  • Femoral hernia or other types of groin hernias.
  • Patients requiring emergency surgery.
  • Patients with severe comorbidities (e.g., uncontrolled diabetes, severe cardiac or pulmonary disease) that increase surgical risk.
  • Known allergy or sensitivity to cyanoacrylate glue.
  • Patients with immunocompromised conditions.
  • Pregnant or lactating women.
