1.All post-operative patients [including all craniotomies (both tumor and trauma), endonasal procedures, procedures involving placement of implants or drains] under the Department of Neurosurgery who have been newly diagnosed with meningitis confirmed by CSF cultures and biochemical investigations,
2.Patients who develop infection within 30 days of primary surgery
3.Patients who have survived for more than 72 hoursâ?? post-surgery,
4.Patients who have undergone a redo surgery because of a direct cause or result of the primary surgery, within 30 days from the primary surgery.
1.Patients who underwent surgery outside the institution (Department of Neurosurgery, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal),
2.Patients who develop infection after 30 days of primary surgery,
3.Patients below 18 years of age,
4.Patients diagnosed with non-CNS infection prior to primary surgery,
5.Patients without positive CSF culture and biochemical investigations.

Name Time Method Study exposure variables: Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), CSF studies â?? culture reports and biochemical profile, Neuro imaging â?? CT Brain (Plain and contrast) and MRI Brain, Antibiotic spectrum. <br/ ><br>Study Outcome Variables: Drop in GCS, focal or diffuse neurological deficit, seizures and any form of neurological obtundation post-surgery ; Setting up a microbiological spectrum and Antibiotic protocol for postoperative neurosurgical patients with meningitis.Timepoint: at the end of follow up of each patient
